JAKARTA, liputanterkini.co.id | The National Police Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) Task Force has succeeded in rescuing 2,497 victims of TIP since it was first formed by President Jokowi on 5 June 2023. This success was also discussed at the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC).
“The TIP Eradication Task Force formed by the President and chaired by the National Police Chief has carried out law enforcement by rescuing 2,497 victims. This was also discussed at the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC),” said Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General of Police Sandi Nugroho on the sidelines of the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai ( 22/8)
Inspector General Sandi said that money laundering is a problem that is of serious concern to President Joko Widodo. The President’s direction has been followed up by the National Police by deploying the TIP Task Force to tackle TIP.
Not only saving victims, the task force has enforced the law with 771 police reports. The police have also arrested 924 suspects.
“This is a form of Polri’s seriousness in following up on the President’s orders and it has become an agreement to be used as a joint guideline so that in the ASEAN region later TIP will be free,” said Inspector General Pol Sandi.
“Not only is Indonesia’s problem, TIP is also the responsibility of ASEAN countries as agreed at the 42nd ASEAN Summit in May 2023,” added Inspector General Pol Sandi.**
